The Dems & Immigration

They have been pushing the CNMI to jump off a cliff and create our own legislation to kill our immigration. They claim that if we don't -- they will deal with us during the national immigration debate in the States and we'll get rolled on.

Well, guess what -- the national debate has started and nothing is moving. The Dems have nowhere to go. The New Majority has been playing their same old games. We didn't cave to their demands for campaign money and they had to throw threats our way to scare the other Islands. Guess what -- lots of hot air and no delivery.

They love to scare Islanders into believing that the sky is falling and that they are out to help us. Well, the sky isn't falling and they are only out to help those who help them politically. Stayman, Pelosi, Cohen and evidently "Sell Out" Tenorio can't scare us with a dead debate.

They threatened over doubling our cost of businesses over night and threatened to take over our immigration. They hold the majority and can't get anything through their own chambers. They have been in the majority for over half the year and all they have to show for it is Pelosi visiting Damascus while our brothers and sisters sacrifice themselves and their families in the War on Terrorism.

I was actually in meetings where this "threat" of the CNMI being wrapped up in the National Immigration Bill was discussed. I made it clear 3 months ago that this was a complete joke and a threat that we should have called their (DOI's and Energy Committee's) bluff on.

The position of DOI and the Energy Staffers were that we needed to form our own stand alone "CNMI Immigration" bill so that we are not caught up on a "run away train" with no way to get off or change the direction. Because the National Immigration Bill was going to get passed.

What morons...

Do they think we are all that stupid? Do they think that we don't follow US Congressional Politics here?

My suggestion was to call their bluff.

I wanted to tell the staffers, Hey, we will take our chances with the National Immigration bill and you and keep your CNMI Bill and shove it.

A lot of local politicians and business leaders bought into this crap the staffers were dishing out and did everything possible to help them draft a CNMI stand alone bill.

I was more inclined to support the Fitial Administration and tell the feds to kiss off....but I guess the political pressure made the administration give in and they bent over to help this CNMI only bill also....

Now what we have done is just help tie the noose around our necks.

We must all be smoking crack here.
